PROMOTING OPTIMUM CHILD DEVELOPMENT
The Nanaimo Child Development Centre is a community-based, non profit organization that has been an integral part of the community since 1967. The Child Development Centre has a mandate to provide individualized services for children, from birth to age 19, and their families that promote optimum child development.

Family Services


The Family Services Program provides family centered services to families with children from birth to six years. The Family services worker creates individual programs to address the goals and needs of each family. This program also offers education, information and support to families, caregivers and community members.

The Family Service program offers two educational parenting courses:

  • Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) for children ages 0-6
  • Challenging Behaviour Program
