CARF Accreditation - What is it?

The Child Development Centre awarded three-year CARF accreditation

Nanaimo, B.C., August 23, 2004 - CARF announced that The Child Development Centre has been accredited for a period of three years for its Child and Youth Services. This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to The Child Development Centre.

This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization's substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

The Child Development Centre is a nonprofit organization with offices at 1135 Nelson Street. It has been providing services and programs to children and their families in Nanaimo since 1967.

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
